Escape From Eden Review

From Good Reads:
Since the age of ten, Mia has lived under the iron fist of the fundamentalist preacher who lured her mother away to join his fanatical family of followers. In Edenton, a supposed “Garden of Eden” deep in the South American jungle, everyone follows the Reverend’s strict but arbitrary rules—even the mandate of whom they can marry. Now sixteen, Mia dreams of slipping away from the armed guards who keep the faithful in, and the curious out. When the rebellious and sexy Gabriel, a new boy, arrives with his family, Mia sees a chance to escape.

But the scandalous secrets the two discover beyond the compound’s façade are more shocking than anything they ever imagined. While Gabriel has his own terrible secrets, he and Mia bond together, more than friends and freedom fighters. But is there time to think of each other as they race to stop the Reverend’s paranoid plan to free his flock from the corrupt world? Can two teenagers crush a criminal mastermind? And who will die in the fight to save the ones they love from a madman who’s only concerned about his own secrets?

For almost as long as she can remember Mia has lived in Edenton with her mother and her brother Max. Edenton is supposed to be a utopia... a place where everyone can live in peace and tranquility. But Mia knows that something isn't right.... as the death toll rises will she be able to save her Mom and Max...and will edge be able to keep her heart with Gabriel....

This wasn't my favorite book. It went a little slow for me. The plot seened predictable and even the nasty characters seemed a little forced. When I read the synopsis of this book, I expected an adventure...and all I got was a bloody free f or all.....

A Moment Book Review

From Good Reads:
Ryan Cosgrove and Liliana Delgado are on a collision course with destiny. They don’t know it yet, but before the night is over their lives will be forever changed.

Spending Valentine’s Day at a burlesque bar, hadn’t been Liliana’s ideal way of spending a Friday night. She’d much rather be back on campus doing homework… until she meets Ryan. Tall, athletic, and gorgeous, Lili can’t keep her eyes off him, and despite his gruff manners and drunken disposition she’s intrigued.

Ryan’s got demons, and they’re deep, dark, and eating him alive. Regardless of his attraction to the petite brunette he’s tired of fighting, of pretending the last fifteen years haven’t been a daily struggle just to get out of bed every morning. That night he decides to end his pain, to leave it all behind and float away into the blessed darkness of oblivion. But fate has other plans for him, Lily finds and rescues Ryan, determined she’ll not only save his body, but his soul too.

This is their moment…

This book was a hard read. The subject matter was not light and friendly like most love stories. A moment tore you up and spit you out. My heart shattered every page. For Liliana who tried  so hard to be what everyone else needed her to be...yet would have given anything for her son to hug her. For Ryan who had his innoncence shattered by a family member and no one believed him. Except for Alex and Liliana. This book isn't about redemption...really its about moving on from your past. Its about letting the right people in, and letting the wrong people go. This isn't really a happily ever after book...its a happy inspite of book. I think I read this book in three hours bawling the whole time.

Savin' Me Review

From Good Reads:
One step away from the coveted Vice Presidency of her firm, the last thing Kat Owens needs is the distraction of a man. Her client, Erik Monteague, disagrees. He’s charming, sexy, seductive, and impossible to ignore or refuse. After succumbing to his advances, Kat’s forced to choose between her career and the man she’s fallen for... while knowing even her love might not be enough to save him from self-destructing.

While Erik’s perfectly executed seduction gets Kat into his bed, the end result is more than he bargained for. Having spent the past ten years wallowing in guilt and self-loathing over his fiancée’s tragic death, falling in love is unacceptable. However, Kat’s passionate, loving nature dissolves the carefully constructed walls guarding his heart, forcing him to face his tragic past and make a decision... spend the rest of his life running, or risk being devastated by love again?

A one night stand eighteen months ago, that neither can forget. A job, a boat, a dog...and an overwhelming desire to love...what could go wrong.

This book was a great read, with twist and turns, possesive lost boys, beer, a nd a few heart wrenching moments. The characters were funny and flawed. The plot as believable as any fast paced love story. I read it in one sitting...and was wrenching for more when it ended..

Head Over Heels Review

From Good Reads:

One tiny lie can cause a whole lot of trouble…

Magee Sinclair has had it up to her sassy short hairdo with the recent blunders pushing her family's advertising agency to the brink. How can she accept the promotion her father plans when she keeps making costly mistakes? She needs to bring in more business however she can. So when new client Justin Kane asks her to role-play as his girlfriend for a weekend in exchange for a lucrative campaign, she jumps at the chance.

Justin's goal to expand his chain of bike stores hinges on a distribution deal with a manufacturer. First, he needs to impress the man at a mountain resort while they bike trails with their significant others. But Justin's girlfriend dumps him, forcing him to find a quick replacement. Magee—pretty, clever, and a skilled cyclist—is the perfect choice to masquerade as his "lover."

Or so Justin thinks.

Because Magee is in major trouble. She knows no more about mountain biking than Justin does about demi-bras. Before long, an irate ex pops up, fake identities abound, and a whole lot of doors slam in the middle of the night. Yet, through the chaos, Magee and Justin discover what it really means to fall head over heels...

My Review:

Sometimes it feels like everything is falling into place...other times it feels like everything is falling apart. For Magee and Justin everything is falling apart. Magee feels like everything she does is a disaster. Justin's girl friend broke up with him days before the biggest weekend of his career. They need each other... they just didn't realize how much.

Let me tell you how much I loved this book. I laughed so hard all the way through. Poor Justin has his work cut out for him with Magee. (Pronounced May- GEE) It just seems like hilarity and disaster follows this poor girl. From Mountain Biking to trying to get to bed... I was in my bed laughing hysterically. I can honestly say I haven't read anything by this Author... and if it wasn't for this handy dandy ARC from Net Galley... I might have never had the pleasure.

The Characters were well thought out and brilliantly written. The plot was something I could see actually happening and reminded me of an ABC Family rom-com with the exception of one very steamy scene at the cabin. Like all romance novels the the couple falls in love faster than you can say, "How do you do?" But that's okay because I fell in love with them long before the book said, " The End."

One Night of Misbehavior Review

From Good Reads:

He wears his scars on the outside. She keeps hers safe inside.

Charlotte Dixon ignores her stepmother’s edict and, in an act of disobedience, attends one of the social events of the year—a masquerade costume ball. Charlotte’s naughtiness escalates when she dances and smooches with a sexy mystery man. The night of anonymous passion that follows makes her yearn for a different life, but the next day she’s back to her dull routine of household management.

Advertising tycoon, Ash Marlborough is about to set a private investigator on the trail of his nameless princess when she waltzes right into his place of work. Charlotte is shocked to meet her
masked man in the flesh, and even more perturbed when he asks her out on a date. Despite craving another night of sexy loving, she doesn’t have time for a man, not when she wants to reinvent herself and grasp a new, improved life with both hands. But Ash knows what he wants, and he’s determined to win the heart of his princess. Let the dance of seduction commence.

Warning: Contains a conniving stepmother, selfish stepsisters, a grandmother with fairy godmother tendencies and a sexy masked man who is willing to face them all for the love of a good woman.

This book was kind of like reading someone's diary but starting in the middle. I was confused because we never got the full story on either one of the main characters. Yet it was an enjoyable read. Like I said in my update on Good reads it was kind of like a mixture of Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast. In fact the paparazzi called Ash the beast because of some gold digger he used to date. Charlotte was your modern day Cinderella. She worked her butt off trying to please a step mother who despised her and step sisters that went out of their way to make her life miserable. But she did have one bright spot in her other wise some what miserable life. Her Gran... while not related to her by blood... you could feel their closeness. Now when Ash and Charlotte perspective grandmothers turn into fairy godmothers and push them together on the sly, by having them meet at a ball...passion ensues. Their were some steamy scenes but while they were enjoyable they seemed out of place in this quirky romance. And as always they fall in love and talk about marriage sooner than I could have gotten to know three men... much less discuss the word love. But that's a romance for you. Like I said before this was a very much enjoyable book and I would probably read it again.... maybe I won't be as confused this time..

My Monday Musings: First weekend of the Arc challenge...

Musing Mondays asks you to muse about one of the following each week…
• Describe one of your reading habits.
• Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s).
• What book are you currently desperate to get your hands on? Tell us about it!
• Tell us what you’re reading right now — what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren’t) enjoying it.
• Do you have a bookish rant? Something about books or reading (or the industry) that gets your ire up? Share it with us!
• Instead of the above questions, maybe you just want to ramble on about something else pertaining to books — let’s hear it, then!

Oh I was totally excited to start this May ARC Challenge... even added some book to my already crazy full ARC Library... and what did I read this weekend.. Not a Damn darn thing. Well that's not true I was re reading the 50 shades series and finished "Fifty Shades Freed" at 2am Sunday Morning. But that was not an ARC so that doesn't count. But in reality I had a blast this weekend. Hung out with an old friend and played video games. Yep I'm a nerd and I know it. But if it makes the blogosphere feel better I did read a short story this morning that was on my ARC list. It might make you feel better... but it did not make me feel better. But that might be because I re read the " Fifty Shades Series" and all other of that genre need not apply. So go see my one and only sex story erotic short story... because you might never see another... because next time I'm at Net Galley I will pay more attention to what I have to read=)

Claiming Lauren: A Review

From Good Reads:
**Erotic romance short story, 10,000 words**

One night should have been enough.

Twenty-seven-year-old Lauren Brant is the perfect society wife. She hosts dinners for her husband's colleagues. She attends charity functions. She's entirely appropriate...except for her clawing need to submit to a man she knows only as Master.

Unable to deny her cravings, she arranges to meet Master. No names, no faces, nothing but submission and sensation. Except it isn't enough. Even before the night ends, Lauren needs more.

But "more" isn't part of the arrangement and she returns to her polished life only to discover her estranged husband has come home. After five years of being invisible to Jacob Brant, Lauren doesn't know what to do with him. He, however, knows exactly what to do with her...

Okay I might have gotten a little click happy on Net Galley... But I was auto approved by a publisher and was super duper excited. So when I saw this cover I was overly excited and either didn't read the synopisis or just went click happy and didn't care. This is not the usual book I review. Don't get me wrong I was just as big a fan of Fifty Shades as everyone else... but that doesn't mean I am going to review it where my mother can see it. One of my friends says its my Christian Upbringing that keeps me away from doing things like that... I think its because I want to be able to look my mother in the eye when I see her.

But anyways on to the review:

Like I said before I am just as big a fan of a little S&M fiction as the next gal...but this left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I felt like I was in the middle of this huge story even though I had just started. It was very predictable and even more boring. The steamiest thing about this book is the cover. So I give this one star and next time I will read through the net galley synopsis more vigilantly.
