It took me forever to read this book. Mostly because like I said in a previous post I saw the movie when I was about half way through. And let me tell the movie is butchers the book. This book I would put in the genre of YA Paranormal fiction. But it is so different then any other paranormal fiction I've ever read. Lena is so strong, yet so fragile. She has so much anger and hurt built up from all the years of torture and belittling she got for being different. I connected with her on a level I never saw coming. Now obviously I can not change the weather by my emotions. But when I was younger I was one angry girl, and did things that not only hurt myself but every one around me. Ethan is the boy/ man that we all wanted when we were in High school. That popular guy, who would throw his popularity in the crapper just because he loved a girl. Man I want to Marry and have the children of a fictional character. Every character was believable, every thought and action understood. This was a beautiful written book. My only let down... I hate books that don't really end. I want to be able to read a book and for it to have some sort of finality even if its the first of the series.

My Favorite Character: Ridley

As much as I am like Lena. I am more like Ridley. I have felt alone and abandoned by the people that are supposed to love me the most, because of choices I have made. It angers me that the family just shut her out. While I understand she is of the dark now. I feel like that no one thought to fight it until Lena.

I can honestly tell you that I have find long lost sister friends in these bloggers. They had Me laughing so hard my nine year old came to see what all the fuss was about. The subjects range from funerals to sex. And I will never ever forget reading, "Come to wash Mom off?" If you are a Mom...of any kind...read this book. If you are a Dad and want to figure out was is going on in that sleep deprived head of your co-parent, read this book. If you are a teenager and want to know why your mom always seems on the verge of a killing spree, read this book. Now it is not for the easily offended. This book is for hard core...damn it all to hell... this shit just got serious in mommy world readers. Be prepared for cussing, sexy talk, on contraceptive discussions. Be also be prepared to laugh your ass off. This book is hilarious, unnerving, uncomfortable, and down right cruel at  times..and I think that's why it's right up my alley.

 So thanks again Kelley from the aforementioned break room for the much needed break from the mundane. And I to feel like a Carnie when I move:)

First Book, First Post

So I have been avid reader since I first read the words "See Jane Sit“...Okay those probably weren't the first words I read, but you get the idea. From Arthur to Amelia Bedelia, from The Little House In The Big Woods to The Baby Sitters Club, from Fear Street to Anne Frank. I loved them all. Every word, Every page, Every twist and turn, Every joke, Every heart breaking moment. Until I turned 18 and hung out with the wrong people books were my drug, my escape from reality. See I was the first pancake, the one you could mess up, because you had two more you could do it right with... so for most of my teenage years, books were my life. So when I thought about what I wanted to write about reviews were the obvious answer. So this is Me, I have a big mouth with no filter, I tell it how it is even when it sucks. I'll probably do Not just book reviews, but movie and music reviews as well seeing as they are my other two loves. So bare with me, most days I'll be writing from my kindle for since I an constantly on the go, so expect a few mistakes while i figure this out... Here goes nothing....

Now I first saw this book on an advertisement on Facebook. The ad proclaimed it was the next hunger games... I laughed at their lying... Sorta skimmed through it's amazon page and then forgot about it..until yesterday. Yesterday I found for $3.99 and thought what the heck...how bad could it be.

This is the first I've ever heard of Ryan Winfield, and having read some of the reviews for his book" Bixby bridge" and it must be pretty good...now on to the nitty gritty.

I finished this book today disappointed and unwilling to buy the next book in the trilogy when it comes  out. The main character Aubrey is boring and very wishy washy. I found myself wanting more depth to the character he created. Jimmy “Aubrey's nomadic best friend" was supposed this young man who had lived like the early Native Americans all of his young life, yet he comes across as a overly sensitive school girl. I wanted adventure and heart break. Guts and Gore. Yet felt let down when the scenes, that could have been that and more, were written like you were reading it straight out of a text book. I wanted more than flashes of greatness... because there were flashes...but seldom and hard to find. At Times it seemed like it would never end...yet when it ended I felt like there should have been more. 

And so I leave you with an inspiring quote from a sometimes uninspiring book. "These aren't just books, they are windows into a mind“ (please excuse my paraphrasing)
